Spartan by name,
not by nature
Striking the perfect balance between luxury and rural simplicity, Spartan Retreats benefits from far reaching views in the heart of the Vale of Evesham. Spartan Lodge lies in it's own private coppice, while Spartan Hut occupies a pretty river meadow known as The Glade.

Mud, muck and
midsummer madness
As a working farm...or small holding, we offer an authentic, pet friendly experience. We aim to impact the natural surroundings as little as possible. You will not find manicured lawns or immaculate flower beds, but you will see how the surrounding fields are traditionally farmed.
Depending on the time of your visit, you may witness the manic hustle at hay making time, watch Gary (the goat) following his equine girlfriends to their winter turnout or over hear the dogs being coached in acceptable life choices! No doubt you will encounter mud and muck...and madness like never before!

Open Space
While it is fair to say there are better views in the British Isles, we are none the less proud and privaladged to live in such a beatiful part of the world. Despite the close proximity to local ameneties and larger conurbations, the fields around our home offer space and solitude.

Woodland Walk
Spartan Lodge sits in it's own small private coppice, under a canopy of Ash, Oak, Beech, Sycamore and Poplar. There is a circular woodchip track with mown interconnecting paths, but otherwise the coppice floor has been left wild to provide a suitable habitat for bugs and other critters.
Al fresco facilities
If the weather is on your side, there is nothing more enjoyable than cooking and dining outdoors. Both the lodge and hut have their own fire pits with a complementary supply of lighters, kindling and wood. Spartan Lodge also has it's own barbecue and outdoor pizza oven if you are feeling a little more adventurous.

Wildlife
Whilst the house has on occasion been visited by roe deer, muntjack and foxes, the nature reserve behind The Glade is their preferred hang out. The neighbouring ridge and furrow field was home to a doe and her fawn during the summer of 2023. What a joy to see him grow.
