Spartan Lodge

Nestled within it's own small private coppice, beneath a canopy of Ash, Oak, Beech, Willow, Sycamore and Poplar.

Luxury meets simplicity

Spartan lodge is light and airy and surprisingly spacious. The double bed is positioned centally, to take in the wonders of the coppice. The seating/dining area is furnished with vintage and up cycled furniture, while the kitchenette is fitted with all necessary mod-cons. Outside there is a small deck which provides the perfect place to wallow in comfy chairs and listen to the breeze dance through the trees.

Quirky washroom

Our compact Rice horse trailer Forest.....'Forest Dump' came to us in exceptional condition for a 40 year old utilitarian vehicle. It's compact dimensions were perfect for conversion into a self contained unit. While the trailer has been left as authentic as possible, with the original floorboards, bridle hooks and tie rings, modern day conveniences have been included. A heated towel rail provides background warmth, and the gas powered shower supplies ample hot water. A compost toilet ensures the eco-friendly credentials.

Spartan Lodge is cosy yet comfortable, with over 20m2 of floor space and duel electric radiators.
The double bed has a Dormeo memory foam matteress and is fitted with a mattress topper and mattress protector. There are four pillows, two firm (plain) and two medium (design).
Bed linen is made from responsibly sourced cotton.
Faux fur throws provide extra warmth. Blankets have been provided to protect bedding from cheeky dogs.
Two reclaimed wicker chairs are dressed with cosy sheepskins, together with a practical upcycled fold away table.
The small kitchenette has a sink with hot and cold running water, small 'RV' gas oven, electric single ring counter top hob (stored in cupboard), electric mini 'hotel' fridge, kettle, toaster and cafetier. Fully equiped for two, with ample china and cutlery.
Daily essentials, including tea, coffee, hot chocolate, semi skimmed milk, eggs, bread and butter are provided, together with condiments of salt, pepper and spices.
A Rice horse trailer has been converted into a fully equiped washroom, consisting of gas powered walk in shower, with rainfall and sliding shower handset, wash basin with hot and cold water.
There is a compost toilet, which uses shavings as a composting agent.
The washroom has a towel rail to keep jack frost away, but will remain chilly during winter months.
A completmentary selection of toiletries is provided.
The outside deck is furnished with comfy garden chairs and side table.
There is an outdoor fire pit, barbecue and a pizza oven for the more adventurous.
The outside dog wash has warm running water. A large belfast sink doubles as a paddling pool.
The private, enclosed coppice has a circular woodchip walk and interconnecting mown paths.

Safety

There is a smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm in the lodge
A powder fire extinguisher is positioned by the entrance door. A fire blanket hangs under the kitchen window.
The ground outside the logde is undulating. Care must be taken when walking around the site, especially at night.
There are steps leading to/from the lodge and to/from the wash room. Please use the upstands and rope banister as necessary.
There is a first aid kit in the cupboard under the skink.

Sleeping

The double bed has a 10.5 togg king size duvet. There is a faux fir throw for extra warmth. Replacement cotton throws may be used when dogs are visiting in wet conditions.
Dog blankets are provided in blanket box near door. Please ensure they are used if you have a duvet monster.
Please keep your dog off the bed and furniture while wet and dirty.

Cooking

The lodge is fitted with a RV campervan size gas oven, with an internal cooking space is 30cm. Pizza trays and baking trays are provided.
There is a single ring plug in induction hob (kept under the sink).
There is a toaster, kettel and 3 cup cafetiere.
Cadies are filled with black tea, instant coffee and hot chocolate. Additional speciality teas, coffees and chocolates are provided. Please do not remove unused items from the lodge.
Salt & pepper, cooking oil and sauces are too provided.
A welcome pack with fresh semi skimmed milk, eggs, bread and butter is provided.
Outside there is a fire pit, barbecue and pizza oven.
Please use the bin in the cabinet under the sink for compostable waste. All other waste can be taken to the recycling bins to the side of the lodge. This area is accessed by undoing the rope from the clip on the upstand.

Washroom

WHile the washroom has a towel rail, the unit will remain chilly during cold weather.
The compost toilet will need a handful of activated wood shavings adding to the bowl.

Conectivity

There are numerous plug sockets around the lodge with USB charging points.
There is no WiFI in the lodge and mobile signal is dependent on provider.
There is no TV, so a perfect place to get away from it all.

Dogs

Please use dog blankets on the furniture.
There is a dog bed with liner and extra blankets under the bed.
Crates are available for use while your dog is wet or muddy.
Please ensure your dog is supervised at all times, especially if livestock are close by.
Dog bowls, towels and treats are provided in the small blanket box by the door.
Compostable dog poo bags are provided. Please clear up dog mess and put in bin provided.
Dog walking facility may be available at £20 per 2 - 3 hours

Entertainment

Playing cards and a small slection of books are in the blue sideboard.

The lodge is situated some 500m from our home and neighbouring properties.
In the summer access is via a seperate farm entrance gate and hard track, which can become wet, dirty and soiled with sheep/horse poo. In winter and after periods of heavy rainfall, the lodge may be accessed via our own house entrance.
Please note; the washroom is not heated.
The coppice has a woodchip track, but may be muddy off the track. Please bring suitable footwear for both outdoor and indoor use.
Please keep your dog off the bed and chairs when wet or dirty. Please use the dog blankets, should your be partial to a canine cuddle up.
Please use the outside dog wash if your dog is dirty. The temperature can be set using the flapper valve under the sink.
Dog towels are hung by the door in the lodge. Please do not use human being towels for drying your dog.
Dog crates in various sizes are available in the lean to, should you wish to contain your dog up after a walk in wet/dirty conditions.
The coppice has been fenced with stock netting and post and rail fencing. For any dog who is not livestock freindly, please ensure they are kept under close supervision at all times. Any livestock injuries/losses will be chargeable.
While the coppice is secluded, there may be noise from passing traffic in the form of farm vehicles (tractors, Gator, quad bike) and resident dogs, horses, sheep and goats.
The coppice borders neighbouring smallholding who also have resident dogs, horses and goats. Their dogs can be very vocal...as can the owner!
Please keep gates closed.
Please do not feed the animals.
